Remembering Debbie Smeets

My prayers are with Debbie's birth family and her chosen community, the Servants of God's Love. I grew to know and love Debbie when I was part of the Word of God community in Ypsilanti. For a while, we commuted together. She was an awesome, joyful, energetic woman and she made her mark in this life indelibly. She will definitely make her mark in the next. Although she apparently had some brief suffering with the car accident, I'm sure (knowing her) that she took it totally in stride. She's one person whom I could see taking Death totally in stride as well. I can just see her saying, "Wow! I'm in heaven! Now I can really start my work." One thing I remember about Debbie (at least when I knew her) was that she didn't sleep much. Life offered too much fun, fruitful, exciting things to do and she was no wallflower. She got involved, she mixed it up, she made her spirited, fun, lifegiving impact on everything and everyone. It's very unsurprising that God took her suddenly (why wait?) to himself on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Let's bask in the joy her her wonderful life and the power of her prayers before the throne of Christ.

NEW AMISH FURNITURE SHOWROOM TO HOST OPEN HOUSE ON JAN. 28

ANN ARBOR, MI – January 8, 2010 – A new decade brings new changes for Amish Tables, Ann Arbor’s fastest growing Amish furniture company. To celebrate their success and to reveal their new look, the company is hosting an open house, January 28 from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.

Amish Tables, which has been used to servicing most of its customers through their websites, www.amishtables.com and www.amish-furniture-home.com, opened their first public showroom a little over a year ago. The company was quick to realize that they needed more room and moved upstairs to triple their floor space, now almost 2000 square feet of retail area. “We now have the ability to show off more of the beautifully crafted furniture that we have been providing to customers throughout the United States and Canada,” explains Nell Narowski, who co-founded the company with her husband Wladyslaw Narowski 15 years ago. “The additional floor space has enabled us to have a clearance section so customers can take home great Amish quality at a reduced price without any wait.”

Light refreshments will be available throughout the day at the open house. Guests will take home a 5% discount coupon and complimentary coffee mug. In addition, guests will be able to enter to win a gift valued at over $500. “We would like members of the community to come and see what’s new and experience what we and the Amish have to offer,” Narowski says.
